Listen: Summer selections by Mantra Collective

November 26th 2015

Mantra collective 1

As summer sets in and the ears start slowly melting off the heads of decent citizens, Mantra Collective is here with their top picks for the long summer ahead. Perhaps their summer selection will help convince your ears to remain fixed firmly where they are, listening to these sweet tunes!

If that weren’t enough, the Mantra Collective will be teaming up with a few friends old and new for a sneaky show as we sweat our way to the year’s sticky end – details below.

Aboutjack

Barac — ‘Moment Of Clarity’

The latest offering from Barac ooozes summer! Sunset/sunrise is the time for ‘Moment Of Clarity’ and with the summer we have planned they’ll be plenty of opportunities for both. Dreamy hardware jams on both sides of MOM002 <3

Lumieux – ‘Seerendeepity’

This is my summer after-hours record for sure. 12 minutes of deep, hypnotising, minimal, broken-beat grooves from the young Romanian, long enough to melt a hole in your cerebral cortex — or long enough for your head to do a full 360° whilst I play it.

Whitecat

Melchior Productions Ltd – ‘The Ritual’

Half of the legendary Soul Capsule, Thomas Melchior AKA Melchior Productions Ltd, has been in the game a long time. He’s been releasing as both Melchior and Melchior Productions since the late 90’s and early 2000’s, alongside a whole host of other monikers.

The man is a dead-set legend and his latest release on the UK label ‘Lick My Deck’ is a testament to his timeless talent and production. An absolute dreamy trippy masterpiece of production.

Acid Pauli – ‘Marvin’

Acid Pauli’s Marvin Gaye tribute/edit track ‘Marvin’ is true aural bliss. Slowed-down trippy grooves provide the backing track to Gaye’s ethereal vocals. It’s a proper euphoric sing-along track for any time of the day, best used to take an after-hours session to a whole different place.

Space Junk

Vinyl Speed Adjust – ‘Black and White’

It looks like Romania’s dominance of electronic keeps on getting bigger as duo Eddy and Levii AKA Vinyl Speed Adjust provide an absolutely incredible debut release on their new label VSA.

This proggy monster will undoubtedly get dancers sweating from the get-go this summer. What a time to be alive!

Archie Hamilton – ‘Troublemaker’

Archie is a firm favourite of Mantra Collective as well as Fuse London. You can find multiple records from him in each of our bags. This track released on Sukhumvit Records is just awesome — the percussion in this and the groovy baseline really steals the show.

Oh man, and wait till you hear the breakdown in this. You will lose your mind!!
