MetaPoll’s Oz Faruqi talks Voting Reform and Senate Shenanigans

March 25th 2016

Osman Faruqi
Former political hack and MetaPoll co-founder Osman Faruqi joined Backchat to outline the Government’s new Senate voting reforms, which were passed with the help of Nick Xenophon and The Greens.

The laws mean that voters will choose their own preferences – numbering at least 1 to 6 above the line, or 1 to 12 below the line.

The deal to pass the reforms was accompanied by visceral anger from microparty senators and the ALP, who attempted to filibuster the bill in a “Senate Sleepover”.
