Crate Digging with Archie Hamilton & Mantra Collective
November 15th 2017
FBi Radio
Direct from Fuse London, producer & DJ Archie Hamilton has quickly been dubbed one of the scene’s most sought-after young artists.
An avid music maker and curator, Hamilton has garnered support from the highest echelons of house and techno as a DJ, producer and label boss. Heading up his own imprints Moscow Records, Moss Co. and Arkityp, he’s been responsible for pushing a recent slew of alternative sounds onto dancefloors across the globe. Since the driving rhythms of his own tracks ‘Mind Blank’ and ‘Troublemaker’ propelled him into the limelight, Hamilton has found himself making the cut for Resident Advisor’s Top 100 DJs list.
Taking advantage of Hamilton’s ear for interesting sounds, we asked the London-baed tastemaker to take us through his top five vinyl faves ahead of his extended three hour set this Saturday. Get acquainted with his mixed bag, below.
Casey Tucker – Whatever Comes to Mind [For Those That Knoe 2017]
Paddy, arpy bliss with a catchy bassline and distorted perc. Eurghhhhhh
Circulation – Green (Mix1) [Circulation 1998]
Simple, effective melodies and pads and that phasing shaker! I’ve got everything Circulation have done. Even if they aren’t all tracks I’d play, I just love the production.
Disk – Energy [Whiteloops 2016]
Nice clubby edit of Estelle Montenegro – Energy. Positive, rolling and groovy. I could listen to the loop on repeat and not get bored!
Terry Francis – Loving you [Pagan, 2001]
King Terry! Amazing groove, with layers of percussion and stabs that build and build without getting busy. Lush pads and out of nowhere that amazing vocal!
Annette – Dream 17 (Coles & Coker Love Your Feel Mix) [DMC, 1999]
Staying on a UK tip, I found this beauty on a DMC House Nation issue. Punchy beats, introspective tones and an acid lick that makes the hairs on the back of your neck stand up.
