Watch :: King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard ‘Vegemite’

KGLW Vegemite

King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard have been frolicking about releasing debut albums and touring the country a whole bunch all through 2013.

They are also set to release their fourth studio album ‘Oddments’ on February 15th. In between these mighty tasks, they’ve taken the time we thought they were using to put their feet up (well deservedly I might add) to write a bit of a tune and release a clip for it about the loveliness of Vegemite. Aptly, they named it ‘Vegemite’.

There is so much joy in this ode. I have never seen anyone look as earnestly chuffed in a video clip as the dude in this one when he takes a bite of veg on toast and picks up his guitar. The love is real. So much so, vocalist/songwriter Stu Mackenzie describes the charmer as ‘probably the most literal song [he has] ever written.’ Going on to straight-out declare, ‘I love Vegemite.’ The camera loves it too if the close up of the stuff getting chewed on is anything to go by.

It’s a really bloody weird video and we like it. In fact, we like it a lot. Props to 2014, it’s getting started swimmingly and we’re proud as heck of it.

Oddments will be released on Friday the 14th of February in CD & digital format and a extremely limited edition collectors vinyl will be available in time for Record Store Day on April 19th 2014.
