White Dog’s latest release Year of the Pig is nothing short of primal: steeped in raw energy and seething with rage.

Year of the Pig is out today via Sydney label Earwaxx Records – you can stream it below. If you caught the first single Storm The Streets, you know you’re in for an onslaught of visceral, cathartic, floor stomping punk. It deals with the “shit” people are exposed to each day, and takes aim at the monotony and hypocrisy of existence in general. These themes crescendo in the final track ‘Buried Country’ channelling Canberra art-punk legends TACTICS.

With help from DEN’s Micky Grossman, who manned the engineering helm bringing the whole thing to life, Year of the Pig wastes no time getting the message across, and you hear it loud and clear (emphasis on loud). White Dog have clearly hit their stride here – the five track EP revisits themes from classic punk, and brings them kicking and screaming into the present.

If Year of The Pig is anything to go by, White Dog’s live shows will be something to behold. You can catch them playing Rad Bar in the ‘Gong 31 May, and The Vic on the Park on 1 June.

And now, here’s Year of the Pig. Brace yourself.
