First known as Horreur, then Vergil and now Stephane, Steven Karmaniolos is indecisive about names, but adamant in his love for techno.

When he was Fade Up feature artist of the week last October, the Newcastle-based producer now known as Stephane said “I have always tried to maintain progressive look on things and am a strong believer of pushing boundaries, sometimes to my dismay. When I feel something has run it’s course I will drop it”. It’s not just names we’re talking about here either, as Stephane’s production and taste is much more refined in this mix than what you last heard from him.

Karmaniolos references his past influences at the start of the mix, with aggressive Gesaffelstein-esque vibes taking over for the first ten minutes, before a touch of gentle harmony and subtelty enters the mix and leads the way for a more mature techno journey. Stephane’s SoundCloud account still reflects his earlier influences, but luckily for you, the man has thrown in a couple of unreleased tunes for your aural pleasure.

Stephane’s next Winter Residency mix will air on The Mixing Bowl on July 12, before being uploaded for streaming the following Wednesday. In the meantime, his fellow Winter Residents Sweetland, Kun, and Chiefs will keep you company with a stack of dance music from heaps of different genres. Let the techno take you for now though.
