Watch :: Dialectrix live on FBi

February 7th 2013

Ah yes, Dialectrix. Sydney’s primary beat rider; puts soul in his cereal so he can rhyme tighter. Awkward attempts at cyber rapping aside, the man is an incredibly vital piece of the Australian hip hop family and anyone with an interest in hop hop should be aware of what he’s up to.

Right now he’s releasing the Satellite EP, which has been blessed with beats from Suff Daddy, Mr Thing, Eric Lau, Haz Beats, and in the case of the title track, Exile. While in the FBi studio for Shantan Wantan Ichiban’s Stolen Records, Dialectrix talked the concept of the EP. “[The concept was] using international producers and it all being strung together with a local voice” he told Shantan.

For this local to get his voice on vinyl though, a bit of a team effort is required. A Pozible pledge has been set up to get the EP on the pricey but ever-desirable format. If you want to chip in and support a talented Sydney artist, then lend a hand here.

A national launch tour is about to get underway too. Things are getting kicked off in the home town of course, with P. Smurf and Chasm Soundsystem in support and Tuka hosting the night at the Annandale on February 16.

For now, check the footage of Dialectrix’s recent time at FBi below. And if seeing him spit over the Exile beat from his new EP isn’t enough for you though, there’s a sampler of the whole EP that you can check out just below…by clickin’ these words
