SLAM Day :: Pledge Campaign

February 21st 2013

How would you like to save live music in Australia and be rewarded for it?

NOW YOU CAN!

This Saturday 23 February is National SLAM Day (Save Live Australia’s Music Day) and it’s gonna be So Like Awesome, Man. All around the country, live music fans are proving their passion by going out to a gig and supporting live music wherever they are – be it at the Enmore TheatreFBi Social , Dubbo RSL, Penrith Panthers or Murray’s place in Murwillumbah.

This year, the reward is even better than seeing an awesome live gig. SLAM has set up a Pledgemusic campaign to raise funds so they can keep doing what they do best: cultivating and promoting live music in Australia. Pledges go toward paying bills and out of pocket expenses including artwork, web building, project managing, photography and other business stuff.

For us pledgers, the goods include the opportunity to dine with Denton, shred with The Living End, and hold the keys to the city in your hot little hand with access to gigs all over your hometown.

STUFF WE THINK YOU SHOULD BUY YOURSELF:

– MUSIC: Lee Ranaldo covers Tim Rogers ($10):

For those of us who know the taste of Bowlers Run a little too well, just 10 bucks will get you a download of the first SLAM single – Sonic Youth‘s Lee Ranaldo covering a track by You Am I‘s Tim Rogers. That’s better than several bottles of Bowlers Run, for sure.

– PARTY: Something For Kate after party ($125):

A ticket to see Something For Kate in Sydney at the Metro on Saturday 1st June, plus access to an exclusive after party with the band post show. Because… Paul Dempsey.

– SKILLZ: Chris Cheney guitar lesson ($250):

The Living End’s legendary lead singer and guitarist will teach you his magic over Skype for a whole hour. Then you’ll be able to do this:

And there’s a whole bunch more! So give some dosh, feel good about it and reap your reward right here.

And if you haven’t picked a gig for Saturday night yet, join us at FBi Social for a mix of garage-surf and tropicana delights from Ross de Chene Hurricanes, The Fighting League and The Faults.
