Rebels On Air Podcast #3: Martin Novosel of Purple Sneakers

March 17th 2017

“It’s the people who make something great – whether it’s a club or a blog or a label or a radio station.”

Each week, the Nike’s Rebels On Air Podcast introduces you to a talented local hero who is changing the game. In episode #3, your host FlexMami (Sidechains) chats with DJ, artist manager and head honcho of Sydney’s much-loved Purple Sneakers, Martin Novosel.

Hear how Martin has grown Purple Sneakers from a regular club night to an online music hub and weekly radio show dedicated to the best emerging club sounds. He shares stories of failed endeavours that have been just as important as his successful ones, stressing the importance of learning from your mistakes and collaborating with the people around you.

“Ultimately, I just really want to help artists be creative. Because that’s really the thing I’m good at – being able to hear an artist’s music and understand their vision, and put the people in place to get it from the artist to the end listener.”
