Sydney band Mid-Ground are set to firmly plant their feet at the front of Australia’s emerging nu-jazz scene with their debut single Marion Chapel Massage’. It premiered today on Mornings with Joe Khan.

Mid-Ground’s debut single Marion Chapel Massageis a smooth blend of synth pads, sophisticated bass, piano and electronic beats that will transport you to an underground jazz bar and get you through the tail-end of iso.

Drawing on the bass player and producer Ally McMahon’s UK roots as well as pianist Andrew Chara’s US and Canadian influences such as Robert Glasper and Anomalie, the track is a synth-jazz electronica melting pot that brings something fresh and unique to Sydney and Australia’s diverse music scene.

Recorded and produced in Chara’s granny flat, in just under 4 minutes Marion Chapel Massage seamlessly transitions through phases of jazz bars, electronic beats and soothing piano lines. This lil slice of instrumental bliss is guaranteed to capture your attention, and dubs Mid-Ground as a name to watch.
