Preview :: Ludlites Love Music

May 17th 2013

Sydney photographic collective The Ludlites love music so much that they’ve turned their favourite lyrics into visual feasts using cameras of olde.

The music of Nick Cave, Boy and Bear and Sigur Ros amongst others has inspired the group, who embrace the imperfections and slow process of shooting on film.

What a lovely idea, I thought, and in a moment of inspiration (and procrastination in the office) I had a crack at it myself, using poetic snippets from FBi’s just-passed Album of the Week, Trouble Will Find Me by The National, as my muse.

As the Ludlites shunned digital photography to opt for film and plastic lenses, I too rejected modern technology for the vintage tools of Microsoft Paint and the felt-tipped physicality of a Sharpie (and then added a lo-fi filter with Instagram so they look totes legit).

The result… kind of sucks. Treat yourself and head to Bondi to see the real deal and I’ll do us all a favour and stick to my day job.
