Listen :: Setec on Telepath

August 29th 2014

SETEC

Setec is the project of Sydney musician and found-sound looping specialist Joshua Gibbs. It’s been a mysterious moniker for me since he surfaced on my radar with the I’ll Be Good EP on Wood And Wire in 2012. Since then I’ve always enjoyed his music but never managed to see him perform live. I’ve recently learnt that he only plays about once or twice a year, and he remained a mythic character until I was fortunate enough to have him guest on Telepath on August 18th to mark the release of his debut album Brittle As Bones on Feral Media.

We had a nice chat about his new record, writing process and thoughts around musical expression, plus he provided a soundtrack of Australian music he enjoys including Pogo, The Easybeats, Tralala Blip and Daddy Cool. You can stream the episode below.

We are also very pleased to announce that Setec is launching his album at FBi Social on Thursday, September 4th with supports from Dean English, Lovely Head and Teenage Moustache. Josh has just now purchased a professional grade cassette dubbing machine to produce limited edition copies of his album on tape that will be available at the show. Entry is $10 – presale here!
