Melbourne producer LUCIANBLOMKAMP has truly made 2014 his finest. A success that stemmed from the release of his eponymous EP, it only took a single year for Sydney label Yes Please to pick him up, release his debut LP, ‘Post-Nature’, and promote his talented name far enough to reach the ears of many; earning him profound love and radio play that would eventually see him take out one of the top spots for our Northern Lights competition.

Lucian has ensured he’s kept rather busy before the esteemed Icelandic trip, as he’s just remixed Milwaukee Banks’ ‘Hazy’ that is to feature on their Rose Water Remixes EP.

From the initial decadent loop sample flirting with Milwaukee Banks’ smooth vocal layer, LUCIANBLOMKAMP has expanded this wall of sound to develop a much larger atmosphere for ‘Hazy’.

Lucian layers dark and elemental synths, building and building as if to summon a fantastic entity. Just as this exciting new world is called upon, rigid beats cut across and counteract with a modest, repetitive hand click – completely eliminating the remix’s initial instrumental values, yet providing a sense of unity through the continued manipulation and reverberation of Milwaukee Banks’ vocals. Adjusting to the track’s new temperament, we’re fooled into believing it could continue for much longer – but alas are led abruptly to the close of ‘Hazy’. What a ride!

Lucianblomkamp will join the likes of Andrei Eremin, RaRa, Friendships and SertOne on the Rose Water Remixes EP, released October 30.
