Free Music :: Brassland @ Adelaide Fest

March 1st 2013

So it is the first of March, which is kind of a big deal. Not just because we have said our goodbyes to another passing Summer, but – for all the cultured kids out there- it marks the beginning of the annual 17-day long Adelaide Festival.

Festival-goers will be quite spoilt this year, as some of cool-cats behind New York based label Brassland will be gracing Radelaide with their musical presence. Even more excellent: for those of us in the wrong state at the wrong time, they’ve put out a free digital download of their EP. It features tracks from Brooklyn guitarist Bryce Dessner (The National), San Fran noise band Deerhoof, unreleased tracks from the folky Sam Amidon (this week’s Live Feed) as well as the talent-oozing string quartet Kronos Quartet.

The first week of the festival will showcase some of Brassland’s hot-shot performers, such as Buke and Gase (a rad musical duo and masterminds behind their handmade instrument the ‘toe-bourine’), pianist/singer Doveman and a handful of fresh faces to the ‘Brassland’ label including Jherek Bischoff from Seattle and fold-rockers This is The Kit who hail from Britain. Phew!

For those who wont be attending this Madelaide endurance festival, get your hands on the free Brassland EP quick smart: because as soon as the festival wraps up on the 17th of March, the EP will become unavailable. Don’t miss out!
