FIRST LISTEN: 100’s heavy first drop If I Give Myself

September 5th 2018

Sydney’s least googleable post-punkers 100 come blazing out of search engine obscurity with new single, If I Give Myself. It premiered on Arvos with Tommy Codling.

Screeching guitars soaked in reverb, raw n heavy drumming and a hoarse vocal spitting blood and gravel over the lot of it, If I Give Myself is an object lesson in post-punk principle. Production-wise it’s a far cry from their first online release, 2017’s stand-alone Ratchet. Buzzy amps and boxy drums give way to a much slicker aesthetic; it still has plenty of punk-rock cred but the mix here is more expansive and very listenable.

If I Give Myself is a document that does justice to a hard-hitting live show that’s been pulverising stages across the city for the last year or so. It’s the band’s first official single and is the first taste of their debut EP set for an October release. Cop it here first, and then taste the fury live at World Bar this weekend.
