Woah! FBi Click has been dancing for two whole years now. We’re not planning on stopping the party any time soon…

If you haven’t been paying attention, FBi Click is our digital station dedicated to the best new club music from Sydney and beyond. Presented by a selection of our city’s most dedicated crews, it’s your window into the most exciting sounds and scenes bubbling away in Sydney right now. The past year has been a big one, so we thought we’d take a step back and look at some of our favourite moments…

We turned Carriageworks into a rave cave

At the very first FBi SMACs Festival in January, FBi Click was there to make sure the floor was wet with sweat. In a rave cave with epic visuals, a stellar all-Sydney lineup took over the industrial room: Black Vanilla (now BV), Dro Carey, Wordlife, Ribongia, Moonbase Commander, Coda Conduct, Dreems and Adi Toohey. What happened in the rave cave stays there… but there are some photos from the festival here.

Gilles Peterson dropped by to record a show

We were humbled to have Gilles Peterson record a special show for us while he was in town for the Electronic Music Conference. Two hours of eclectic cuts from one of the world’s most renowned selectors, it’s hard to beat.

FBi Click is the first station in Australia to bring you his internationally syndicated radio show, Gilles Peterson Worldwide, broadcasted weekly on stations across Europe and Asia. Internationally renowned as a DJ, broadcaster, producer, label boss and record collector, Gilles’ musical selections connect the dots between soul, hip hop, house, Afro, Latin, electronica, jazz and beyond.

Purple Sneakers celebrated 10 Years Of Taste

Celebrating a decade of great taste, passion and parties we wish we remembered more of, Sydney heroes Purple Sneakers put together an epic selection of mixes spanning the last ten years. We recommend starting at the beginning, not because we’re into rules, but who can resist those 2007 belters from Justice, Digitalism and PNAU.

If you want more nostalgia, read this.

The FBi Click Residency family expanded

Wednesday arvos sounded very different throughout the year thanks to a rotating cast of Sydney crews taking over the airwaves for the FBi Click Residency.

Responding to the changing face of Sydney’s nightlife in the new age of lockouts, we gave some of our city’s most-loved club nights a new home on the airwaves. Meanwhile, Sidechains and Lazer Gunne Funke took a month each on air.

We also handed the reins to five passionate young women, helming their first radio show ever as part of FBi’s Dance Class. After two months of DJ training and mentorship, we handed the studio over to Lauren Hansom, Sports, Mira Boru, Ellie Locke and Genie – and they blew us away.

Big love to Lewis Cancut & Friends, etcetc, FLUX, EVE and Heaps Decent for their killer contributions to the residency as well.

Listen to one of our fave sessions from Flux below, featuring local young guns Swindail and Spirals. Hang out with our current residents, Never Slept, here.

Sidechains joined the roster!

… because one month wasn’t enough. Bottling the fizz that rises between electronic music, fashion and the internet, this crew bring you extroverted, high-energy club music that no one else is touching. We’re stoked to have them on board on the reg. Check out a guest mix they wrangled from Sable below, and keep an eye out for their parties. You will not regret.

Astral People’s Ben Fester and Chris Barker said farewell

These two local heroes have been representing Astral People’s vision of the full spectrum in electronic music, every week since FBi Click launched. Fester and Barker brought everything from ice-cold techno, full-bodied house, expansive beatwork and all the in-betweens from artists both celebrated and undiscovered… it’s been a pleasure having these guys in our ears for two years.

Listen to their final show together here.

Sweat It Out returned to the airwaves

Whether it’s for a festival of 60,000 or an afterparty of 5, Sweat It Out stands for awesome music. They’ve fostered huge Australian talent like RÜFÜS, What So Not and Motez, but have never stopped pushing mega-fun club music week to week. As one of the founding shows on FBi Click, we were stoked to welcome Sweat It Out back to the family. Listen to their triumphant return here, steered by the label’s US and UK A&R man Sinden. Can’t wait for more of the good stuff coming to you each week with Yolanda Be Cool taking over the reigns.

Jikuroux dropped an all-fire mix on Body Promise

Amongst all the big stuff, our hard-working shows have been getting some incredible mixes week in, week out. This particular shiner came through on Body Promise earlier this year, when local Sydney producer and DJ Jess Lavelle AKA Jikuroux dropped a mix of pure dance floor fire. She is one half of HP Mini and co-founder of one of Sydney’s most fun and inclusive club night’s, EVE, who have brought out the likes of Air Max 97, Imaabs and Venus X. She also has a solo EP forthcoming on Decisions, a new label headed up by Air Max 97. Turn it up, thank us later.

Whether you’ve been here since day one or just stumbled across us, thank you for tuning in. See ya soon on the dancefloor.
