Being Collected: insights into repatriation

Repatriation is the return of material immorally acquired such as human remains and sacred objects. Over the last 25 years museums across Australia have proactively engaged with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities for the return and future management of material collections. This panel brings together Aboriginal people working in community, museums and Government sectors to discuss this complex process and their experiences.

Tyler Payne: Womanhours

The choice of self-portraiture is informed by Louis Wacquant’s ‘carnal sociology’, where the researcher embodies themselves as the research object, experiencing a social world from within, rather than observing it from the outside. Womanhours’ personal engagement also aims to establish solidarity with other women compelled to endure these rituals.

Chainmail the Label (A/W 18 Capsule Collective Launch)

In Order of Time

As artist Harriet Body moves into a new daunting phase of life with the imminent birth of her baby, this exhibition observes the peculiar and momentous insignificance of being alive.
