Through Haywood’s process-driven ‘everyway’ weaving, she entwines research and immersion, craft thinking and making, film and sound, collaboration and collective tacit knowledge creation.

First National Poetry Slam

Bankstown Poetry Slam is proud to present the first-ever National Youth Poetry Slam in Australia as part of its Brave New Word Poetry Festival. Featuring award-winning U.S.-based poet Nate Marshall, you do not want to miss the chance to cheer on 15 of Australia’s bravest young wordsmiths.

You will be mesmerised by the realest rhymes and mic-drop-worthy metaphors as the finalists battle it out for the inaugural NYPS crown. Join us for this evening of inimitable poetic storytelling with some of the most passionate poets hailing from all over Australia!

Wednesday 14 - Tracing Stories

OPENING OF STOCKWOMAN BY THEA ANAMARA PERKINS

Covering the walls of Carriageworks’ public space, Stockwoman is the most ambitious and largest work to date by Arrernte and Kalkadoon artist Thea Anamara Perkins. Created onsite over three weeks, the Carriageworks’ Clothing Store resident artist will paint her great grandmother and Arrernte elder Hetty Perkins.

Stockwoman traces ancestral stories across Country from Alice Springs to Redfern to reframe our imagining of the Australian landscape.

Sunday 18 - Tactile Textiles

MESSAGE FROM THE MEADOW: Bridget Currie

Penrith Regional Gallery is thrilled to present South Australian artist Bridget Currie’s landmark solo exhibition, Message from the meadow.

The exhibition alert to both the proximities and boundaries between bodies, objects and space: organic, abstract forms made intuitively by the artist serve as physical koans — things that exist to ask a question — displayed amongst an ecology of bespoke domestic furniture that privileges intimacy and tactility.
