Culture Guide :: Local Art, Good Greed and Village Beer

October 14th 2013

Culture Guide Header

It’s hard to know what to do after work sometimes… when you’ve got The Z Factor and Please Date My Horribly Awkward Son doubling up on TV, how could you possibly consider heading back outside?! Luckily, we’re keeping our eyes out to bring you the best, brightest, and usually cheapest stuff on the Sydney arts and culture scene.

So when the lure of comfortable pants and reality TV threatens to maroon you on the shores of mediocrity, FBi’s culture guide has got you sorted…

Tues 15th :: Talk, think and eat at Govindas

Food scarcity and hunger are not things we face all too often in Australia, what with Woolies and Coles pushing prices down and vying for loyalty with overstocked shelves. They are, however, the daily reality of a huge proportion of the world’s population living at or below the poverty line.

This World Food Day head to Govindas, Darlinghurst’s veggie restaurant cum boutique cinema where for a measly $10 you’ll get fed, watch a film about what hunger really means and meet the people behind it.

WHAT: World Food Day

WHERE: Govindas, 112 Darlinghurst Rd Darlinghurst

WHEN: Tuesday, 6.45pm

HOW MUCH: $10 (includes a feed)

Wed 16th :: Escape early for peep shows, pop-up cinemas and workshops

… And heaps more. Who would have thought hump day could have so much to offer? The last week of the Art & About special of Escape Early on Wednesdays gets you out of work (or just off your arse) to find film, art, music and design on the streets of Sydney’s East.

WHAT: East Sydney Creative’s Escape Early on Wednesdays

WHERE: Around Sydney’s Eastern suburbs

WHEN: Wednesday 16th Otober

HOW MUCH: FREE!
