While Chiefs’ first mix of his Winter Residency on The Mixing Bowl gently warmed your chilly toes, his July effort demands that you put those appendages to work on the dancefloor. Yes, the next forty minutes of your life is to be filled with the most bumpin-est r&b reworks available; it’s bendy basslines and snappy percussion aplenty from here on out my friend.

The Melbourne man’s approach to his residency echoes that of his Sydney-based brother in bass, Kun. The two dudes make vastly different music (Chiefs for the club, and Kun for the bedroom), but it’s interesting to hear their shared roots. Both included guys like Kaytranada, Pomo and Milo Mills in their July mix, while staying in the zone of Losco and their Soulection ilk in June.

Chiefs’ last appearance on your radio for the time being will be after midnight on August 23.
