Watch :: Pigeon Live in the Studio

February 22nd 2013

Did you ever get told that playing video games was a waste of time? Well it might have taken a while, but a band called Pigeon has finally taken a stand for the art of twiddling your thumbs.

Five handsome gentlemen wielding nothing but their smartphones stepped into FBi’s studios to give Stephen Ferris a treat one special Wednesday morning in in November. The band stood in a circle, each tapping away on various electronic-music-based apps. They almost looked like a caricature of communication in the 21st century – that idea of interacting with many people via a screen in your hands, but ignoring everyone in the room. However, in this case, the lack of eye contact did nothing to stop communication. Pigeon joined disparate electronic sounds together into a lush, cohesive whole, while enchanting vocals were spun over the top. There was even a cheeky reference to some Like Drawing Blood era Gotye lyrics.

Now, Pigeon have a national tour starting halfway through next month, so be sure to check ’em out if you’re vibing on what you see…
