e4444e is a Newcastle-based experimental sonic collage project absorbed in nature, trading in layered guitar and synth textures and looping melodies.
e4’s music doesn’t so much reflect the natural world as takes its place in it – breathing, growing, interacting with the elements and then decaying. Think the airborne exhilaration of Animal Collective mixed with the grinding organics of mid 2000’s beatmakers like Dilla and Madlib.
‘Golden Highways/Plovers’ off the Mr Dover and the Endless Rovers EP, is emblematic of e4’s approach, blending the synthetic and the organic into something that moves and breaths. The video, animated and directed by Nicholas Griffith (with additional filming by Lane Pittman), picks up on this by coarsely layering OK Computer-era animated narrative elements with footage of ocean and bush.
You can catch e4444e live at FBi Turns 15 in November or on one of his EP tour dates below.
