Unsigned Artist Of The Week :: Obscura Hail

October 21st 2014

obscura failReady for a holiday? Obscura Hail can get you into the rainforest in 5 minutes flat.

Obscura Hail is the solo project of Sean Conran out of Sydney. He creates the kind of indie folk you can run around a maypole to, with tracks taking inspiration from natural elements like water, the sounds of the forest, plus an occasional accordion. He has incredibly soft, dual vocals that offer the sort of harmonies Simon and Garfunkel were pumping out, but with a focus mostly on the instruments behind them. It’s proper acoustic folk with swelling guitar-laden melody, set to match to a tee any faery stories you have under your belt.

The magic he offers can be heard in his EP, Thrown Into The Sea, which features a track of rain noises and is the most gentle escape from the city ever to come out speakers, or if headphones you’re feeling emotionally adventurous (wow). If it’s not enough there is an album sledged for a January release and an EP launch in early November. Details below.
