Hear the latest – and darkest – Wax Witches offering, ‘I’m Without’.

Wax Witches aims to elude definition. The solo project of Bleeding Knees Club band member Alex Wall has been described over the years as ‘bratty’, ‘snotty’, ‘misfit’ and ‘angsty’ – but package it however you want, that’s Wall’s attitude.

This is evident in the latest taste we’ve received from from Memory Painting, Wax Witches’ third studio release. ‘I’m Without’ shows how unclassifiable this project remains.

A much broodier sound than the other snippets we’ve heard from the album, the singles ‘Habit’ and ‘Morning Flowers’, Alex claims this is the darkest song he’s ever written. It expresses the pain of losing someone and feeling so emotionally crippled that death is welcome. Leaving you feeling quite unsettled, the track highlights the versatility in both content and mood of the Wax Witches repertoire.

Premiering today on Arvos with Dom O’Connor, you can stream the track below.

Memory Painting by Wax Witches is out on Burger Records worldwide and MGM in Australia on March 18, 2016.
