The last day of this month marks a night where we have been blessed with the opportunity to break the cycle of routine parties on the weekend and put the hump back into hump-day.

No strangers to Sydney town, Dune Rats have been representing world-wide. With tours to SXSW, South Africa and Asia earlier this year, the band are back in and around Australia, spreading the good news that is the Smile EP. If you haven’t heard this release, you’ll see that from the cover, this intrusive crowd-surfing trio is going to make a mess, then not clean up. Badass.

Fuck It Dog, Life’s A Risk (FIDLAR). It’s in the name, isn’t it? Have you ever thought about throwing it all away to join the circus? Me neither. I have however, always wondered what it would be like to party, play and chase the dream. Since their debut release, FIDLAR have not been giving a shit all over the world. If you are one who falls off the wagon, I advise you leave straight after Dune Rats.

With both bands fresh from Splendour, Oxford Art Factory will have the first showing of this lust for life combo. This could be a positive or negative thing depending on how many stories they come away with post-festival.

If this compelling read still hasn’t lead you the mid-week dance, I’m going to give you 4 alternate, less preferable situations that would occur any given Wednesday:

1. Lose lotto.

2. Student night in Newcastle: Yeeah … Naah.

3. Re-watch Entourage and/or Gossip Girl: actually not the worst option on a winter’s night…

4. Night in with the cat(s): if you’re genuinely considering this option for longer than 5 seconds, I’m calling Beyond Blue.

So if you don’t mind a bit of morning dread, a bit of careless disregard, then it’s time to forget about the bonds of tomorrow and head on down to Oxford Art Factory.
