When it comes to City Vs. Nature I can’t work out which team is the underdog.

On the one hand our city is forever expanding and becoming more dense. On the other hand nature bursts through every available crack, whether as a cockroach infestation, a green median strip, or a friendly neighbourhood possum destroying your veggie patch.

Which brings me to art.

Art Pharmacy is a Pop Up located on Oxford Street and as their name suggests, Art Pharmacy provide “prescriptions for art lovers”. Like the aforementioned green median strip, Art Pharmacy brings some colour to the Darlinghurst cityscape (especially now that the rainbow crossing has been turfed).

Art Pharmacy supports emerging local artists by selling their work at affordable prices. All works are priced between $100-$250 so it’s a perfect opportunity for budding art collectors to snag a bargain.

City Vs. Nature is the current exhibition at Art Pharmacy, depicting the complex relationship between city life and the natural world. Some of the stand out artists include Genevieve Bessell-Browne, Danilo Brandao and Helen Cameron.

Keep your eyes peeled for the next Art Pharmacy Pop Up show entitled Contemporary Urbanism. Opening night is on Thursday the 16th of May from 6pm.  There’ll be live music music by ‘Recall’ and drinks so you can’t lose!
