Sydney brothers Johnny Took (DMA’S) and Matty Took (PLANET) have linked up to serve up some serious fuzzed out pop-rock in new project BIG TIME. Guising the flirtatious boundary between love and fun, their debut ‘It’s You’ got its first FBi Radio play on Arvos with Tommy Codling.

It’s no secret that there is some major talent in the Took family tree. From writing songs to crafting tunes, you name it and brothers Johnny and Matty will give it a red-hot crack.

With the launch of their new project BIG TIME, it hardly seems fair that so much talent be housed under one roof. Although, the proof is in the pudding with their debut offering ‘It’s You’.

Mixed and mastered by producer powerhouses Lachlan Mitchell and Mike Tucci respectively, the song was engineered within the walls above Camperdown’s iconic pub Lady Hampshire.

In just three and a bit minutes, ‘It’s You’ delivers glorious lashings of reverb, roaring guitars and rumbling bass accompanied by sweet drums to produce a result that is bound to get you groovin’ along.

But underneath this pearler is a sense of honesty and vulnerability that is formed masterfully in the song writing. Coupling a shoegaze gloss sound over lyrics indicative of a tumultuous relationship reflects a tug-o-war between two people who want one another, but realise the relationship is fuelled by fun, sex and drugs.

‘It’s You’ is only just a tantalising taste of the big things to come from BIG TIME.

Stream BIG TIME’s debut ‘It’s You’ on Spotify and you’ll understand why we’re craving another bite.
