Postcard From Iceland :: Lanterns + Moon Holiday Play Harpa Concert Hall

November 6th 2012

To say Moon Holiday and Lanterns are having fun over at Iceland Airwaves is an understatement. Not only have they gone sightseeing and checked out some of the amazing sites Reykjavik has to offer, they’re playing inside them too!

Against perhaps the most fitting backdrop imaginable, the pair played Kolabrautin, a beautiful space within the iconic Harpa Concert Hall. The stunning architecture provided an awesome atmosphere for the music of our Northern Lights winners as part of a line up of great international artists (some of which you can check out below).

Just an FYI, Harpa is kind of like Reykjavik’s answer to The Sydney Opera House. Designed by reknowned artist Olafur Eliasson, think steel framework and irregularly-shaped glass panels EVERYWHERE.  Glitchy beats + offbeat architecture = bliss.

Other sweet artists that were on the lineup included:

Woodpigeon is a solo folk artist from Canada who makes sweet tunes with looping pedals. Have a listen to said tunes HERE

Pascal Pinon is the project of Icelandic twin sisters. One of the sisters Jófríður is in electronic act Samaris who Moon Holiday is collaborating with at Greenhouse Studios in a couple of days. Check their sweet folk pop HERE

Trouble is a fantastic one woman drone and noise artist from Iceland. Listen HERE
