Listen: Peter Bibby interview and ‘Bat N Ball’ live acoustic on Arvos

February 5th 2015

Peter Bibby

In Sydney for Laneway Festival, Peter Bibby had a pleasant chat with Dom O’Connor prior to his sell out gig at Oxford Art Factory with Pond. They chatted about Bibby’s musical origins, his signing with Spinning Top and the Perth music scene, his mum’s piano “tinkling” and his dad’s blues harmonica, his various other musical ventures before performing as a solo artist, making the big move to Melbourne and the moment he decided that he wanted to write music.

We were super lucky to have him play ‘Bat N Ball’ live, a song off his (previously featured Album of the Week) Butcher/Hairstylist/Beautician. Hear it all below:

Interview :: Peter Bibby on his debut album 'Butcher/Hairstylist/Beautician'

There is so much wine in Peter Bibby's debut record, we probably should have gotten our RSA before we made it album of the week. We spoke to the man himself about the music, the boozin' and the grand pie shop plan.

Free Download :: Peter Bibby 'Home Alone (Live at Oxford Art Factory)'

We recorded Bibby's support set for Spinning Top amigos Pond recently, and like a real upstanding gent, he's offered one of the tracks for you to have for free. In 'Home Alone' he's "high like Macaulay Caulkin" and "like a drugged-up Al Capone" - yet we still want to share a glass of cheap red with him.

Interview :: Nicholas Allbrook on going solo & picking favourites

How does one describe Nick Allbrook? There are the facts: musician, singer, songwriter, vocals, bass, drums, guitar, synth/keyboard, Pond, Tame Impala, Mink Mussel Creek, Allbrook/Avery, Peter Bibby... but that doesn’t even begin to quench our curiosities.
