Flume

Check ye cereal box, there’s dreeeams at the bottom!

Sydney producer Flume found his beginnings at the bottom of a cereal box. After finding music making software hidden beneath his breakfast (a step up from the odd NRL collector card freebie), he pushed his Frosties aside and started producing music at the ripe age of 13. Eight years later, Flume (aka Harley Streten) is tearing up clubs and festivals around Australia, with releases from Future Classic and Elefant Tracks under his belt. The 21 year old recently broke the million mark on his own YouTube channel, slaughtered the listen rate on Soundcloud and hit success on the head with his track ‘Sleepless’ getting radio spins around the country and featuring in a Rip Curl promo.

The past twelve months for Harley has been huge, from scraping the odd club set here and there, to a sneaky Field Day appearance and finally finding a spot on the bill at Parklife, Splendour In The Grass and Harbourlife. Up ahead, Streten’s working on a new live show for a locked-in European/US tour, compete with “”a really visually engaging light show that moves to the music, syncing up with the audio coming through the speakers,” (themusic.com.au). Flume’s debut album is ready to drop in November, containing many collaborations with local boomers Seekae, Galapagoose, Chet Faker and Oliver Tank among international friends. The release is bound to see international interest for the young gun Sydney producer, so keep your ears peeled.
