Independent Artist of the Week: Gabriel Espinosa

April 1st 2019

Gabriel Espinosa

With his IDM-inspired techno track ‘badgyal’, Gabriel Espinosa channels darker sounds from lighter times.

18-year-old producer Gabriel Espinosa has come of age. At 16, Gabriel was first introduced to Sydney’s underground bass music and techno scene, and this early exposure laid the foundation for his razor-sharp, experimental sound. He credits his parents with introducing him to the wide variety of genres which inform his music. His debut EP, ‘wait.’, came out in January this year, followed by a sublime and post-apocalyptic-inspired mix for local bass crew Construct. With a new EP already in the works, Gabriel looks set for an eventful year.

‘badgyal’, a stand-out track off of his ‘wait.’ EP, channels early 2000s IDM to deliver a lucid, versatile track equally at home on the dance floor or a long bus ride.
