At the start of this month Western Sydney rapper and host of The Kxckbxck on FBi Radio AR the Eternal dropped a stunning new double-sided tape, titled The Outside demos. The demos showcase AR’s versatility, at once a master of fast rap and gentle RnB. Crowned our Independent Artist of the Week, AR told us all about his new project with Maleeka Gazula on Up for It! last Friday.

The Outside demos SIDE A introduces AR the Eternal at his most braggadocious, deftly handling various flows as he lays down some extremely hard verses chock full of witty one-liners. “Black Volk whip it Elliot Page / ask Dane he gon’ tell you the same” – put simply, he’s flexing, and rightly so.

Exactly one wake after SIDE A, AR dropped SIDE B (see: the message on his Spotify page that reads “BACK TO BACK BABYYYYYY”). Here he reveals a much more tender and gentle side, both lyrically and sonically. AR touches on themes of heartbreak, insecurity, and love, singing melodically over lush RnB beats.

“I’ve been working on this for years, many, many years. And it’s good to see that it’s paying off for something.”

Taken together The Outside demos reveal AR the Eternal’s range and musical ability. The tracks prove he can make magic on any sort of beat, so long as it’s fresh.

“[My journey], well, it’s only just begun to be honest with you.”
