Holly Throsby hosts The Bridge: an hour of female-fronted Sydney music

March 21st 2017

  • Holly Throsby :: Guest hosts The Bridge for IWD

To celebrate International Women’s Day 2017, we asked acclaimed musician and author Holly Throsby to host our 100% Sydney music show, The Bridge. She gifted us with a playlist showcasing the diversity and talent of local female, female-identifying, and gender non-binary musicians.

The first tune off the blocks, ‘2 6 4’ by newcomers Body Type, is itself a tribute to the great tradition of women in music – opening with a bass drum pulse reminiscent of The Ronettes. From there, the playlist traverses large swathes of Sydney’s musical landscape, from hip hop to folk to electronic music by artists from a multitude of backgrounds, reaching from Zambia to Papua New Guinea.

Hit ‘play’ above to hear the full show.
