Giveaway :: R. L. Jones @ GoodGod

September 4th 2012

Rohin Jones is a wanderer.

His musical vagrancy has taken him from the North Queensland heat all the way to the tumultuous The Middle East, and now we find him stumbling across a Phony Mexican Diner*. He is a musician and a ‘part-time bum’, with a delectable beard to prove it. His voice is that of a travelling man: rough, meandering and true. The voice of a born storyteller.

Those who fell in love with the songs and stories of The Middle East will find equal fondness for the former member’s new solo project as R. L. Jones. After the dissolution of his much-loved previous band, Rohin’s new work feels something like wandering into the next bar on a long night in the middle of somewhere

Everybody Wants To Be Your Friend’ is the first single from R. L. Jones: a jangly ride full of reminiscence and nostalgic musings. It features a special guest performance from the lovely Adalita on vocals. We’ve been giving it a tonne of love on FBi – give your ears a little reminder right here:

Having spent some time apart from TME, Rohin will be taking to the stage in his solo incarnation this Saturday night. He is performing with the Phony Mexican Diner – a ramshackle collection of his musical friends, including members of Middle East and Joseph Liddy & The Skeleton Horse – with bonus support from Bearhug and Shady Lane.
