Chicken nuggets, gold nuggets, tofu nuggets, …musical Nuggets? It’s a given that anything in tiny morsel-form is infinitely better than any other possible configuration. Lenny Kaye‘s seminal garage rock anthology of the same name, along with its subsequent re-imaginings are no exception to this rule.

Nuggets: Antipodean Interpolations is an non-edible event happening as part of Sydney Festival this January. Basically, it’s a celebration of ‘Nuggets: Original Artyfacts from the First Psychedelic Era’ which was released in 1972, making this year its 40th anniversary. So, what better way to celebrate than by gathering a bunch of amazing indie bands to form one giant musical nugget? Artists including The Laurels, Straight Arrows, King Gizzard and the Wizard Lizard, The Murlochs and Gooch Palms will pay homage to legends like 13th Floor Elevators, Count Five, The Knickerbockers, and Michael & the Messengers. Yes, we’re drooling too.
