Exclusive :: Mother & Son clip for Creature From The Swamp

July 12th 2012

Just cause we like to keep you in the loop, we’re giving you an exclusive look at Mother & Son’s latest vid, before they release it to the likes of MTV. We also had a quick chat to Mat from the band, who explained the narrative and gave us a little background, “the clip is a journey through the eyes of ‘the creature’, which is this divine being who slays down a young rapist by the name of Billy. There’s no gruesome images portrayed but the dark mood is definitely captured.”

The film was shot, directed and produced by Matt Loft, Sydney’s very own one man Hollywood crew. Is that a thing? He certainly made it one. Shot in two stages in and around the band’s stamping grounds on the Illawarra Escarpment, with the stormwater drain sequence filmed underneath Austinmer Surf Lifesaving Club, the ominous piece took some planning and a little luck to create.

“We waited for the right day where it was wet, but not too wet to shoot. We put the word out the day before asking for volunteers to play Billy’s victims and we were so lucky to have a handful of beautiful & dedicated actresses. They were literally dragged around in the mud and dirty water, mixing it up with leeches and spiders wearing next to nothing all in the name of art. Wish we could have paid them!”

So for love, not money, we’re proud to give you an exclusive sneak peek at Mother & Son’s dark little masterpiece.
