Friday 31st :: Pictures painting words
The clever brains behind Affectors are treating us to a night of literature, art and absinthe in a multi-sensory exhibition where 25 artists have created their own covers of the classics. Among others, check out Wayne Nichols’ interpretation of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde, Chris Nixon’s On the Road and Jason Paulos’s take on Journey to the Centre of the Earth.

Friday 31st :: Join a queer and quirky late night art party
The MCA’s late night art party is reaching new levels tonight with a night of DJs, performance and exhibitions curated by local performer and SMAC nominee Justin Shoulder and the Glitter Militia. The theme? “Dress to impress, with lashings of colour and at least a quantum of queer”.

Over 170 performers are currently taking part in the Short & Sweet dance festival which brings you 10 minute dances by emerging and professional choreographers. Expect a blend of Contemporary, Physical theatre, Flamenco, Burlesque, Circus arts, Lyrical, Neo-classical, Street dance.

All weekend :: Bring on the Year of the Horse
It’s the Year of the Horse and as always Sydney is going off to celebrate the Year of the Horse. Plenty of stuff going on, but we’d recommend checking out the Crossing Boundaries exhibition at Town Hall, seeing Chinese Sydney by bike and the Twilight Parade on Sunday night.
