It’s hard to know what to do after work sometimes… when you’ve got The Z Factor and Please Date My Horribly Awkward Son doubling up on TV, how could you possibly consider heading back outside?! Luckily, we’re keeping our eyes out to bring you the best, brightest, and usually cheapest stuff on the Sydney arts and culture scene.

Mon 26th :: American Pie and Free Popcorn!
The Soda Factory offers up free films every Monday night, screening from 8pm. This week it’s ‘American Pie’. Drink specials are on between 7-9pm and there’s even a themed cocktail ‘The Levenstein’ (we’re not sure if it’s apple flavoured?!)

Tues 27th :: Check out some fantastic, independent artists competing for $10,000
The John Fries Memorial Prize for emerging visual artists is a non-acquisitive award of $10,000. This annual prize is open to all artists resident in Australia and New Zealand who are not enrolled as a student and whose work is not represented in the collection of an Australian state, territory or national public art gallery.

Thurs 29th :: Explore the social art of weaving with all puns intended
Lights on Later sees the MCA open for extended hours every Thursday night. This week you can check out Weave and Yarn, exploring the social arts of weaving and story-telling. It features a variety of artists including Hiromi Tango and offer you the opportunity to create your own woven piece of art.

Fri 30th :: Get inspired with 5-minute interactive breakfast talks
Searching for inspiration before the weekend? Fastbreak presents rapid-fire interactive talks by young entrepreneurs from a variety of industries and fields. Come down and share ideas, conversation and brekky courtesy of Black Star. The event is hosted by the non-profit youth organisation Vibewire Youth.
