Ever wondered what might happen if we truly democratised Sydney’s urban landscape? Pitch-a-This aims to find out as they invite you down to have a say in reinventing the city. Speakers include Nichola Balch from 1:1 NSW and Heidi Axelsen & Hugo Moline from The Lot.

Pitch your idea for a more creative Sydney and get a free drink, a vote on the best idea and popcorn. Plus $10 from your entry goes towards funding the best idea of the night – it’s delicious democracy in action!

Wed 18th: Laugh the years away with us at The Laugh Stand

Nobody likes getting older; what with all the planes to catch and bills to pay, the Cat Stevens records that mysteriously appear in you music collection. Fortunately we have The Laugh Stand to help us celebrate! The FBi turns 10 edition features Peter Berner, Dan Ilic, Alice Fraser, Zoe Coombs Marr, Genevieve Fricker, Matty B, Nina Oyama, Cameron James and Dane Hiser and ALL PROCEEDS GO TO FBI!!

Thurs 19th: Check out a world of contemporary art

Never been to an art fair? You no longer have an excuse as Australia’s new international Art fair, Sydney Contemporary, makes a home this weekend at Carriageworks. Featuring modern and contemporary artwork from over 80 Australian and international galleries. The inaugural exhibitor list contains some of the most respected names in contemporary art, spanning 11 countries and 4 continents around the world

Fri 20th: Hit the streets as Sydney becomes a living canvas

Throughout September and October the streets of Sydney will open up and become the canvas on which artists and performers ply their trade. Tonight is opening night of Art and About and the evening features events like the Sydney Life photography exhibition in Hyde Park, a film screening of Shaun Tan’s The Arrival and live music from The Break in Martin Place as well as giant, colourful snails dotted throughout Sydney…
