Volunteer

Applications are now closed – thanks for your interest.

FBi Radio survives because an amazing bunch of people give up their precious time to come and help us out. Both on-air and behind the scenes, our volunteers keep the station running, and there’s always plenty of work to be done!

We get tonnes of applications so in order to make sure we give existing volunteers solid time, we only take on new volunteers every couple of months. You can submit an application year round though. We’ll keep your application on file so when we’re looking for new people you’ll be right there on our list.

Apply to be a volunteer here.

What kind of volunteer spots are available?

There are plenty of roles for volunteers to sink their teeth into at the station. Starting with manning the front desk, working in the music library, communications, membership, events, sales and promotions, producing or presenting on air. You could be just starting out and looking for some general experience, or you could be a super-skilled champion looking to help us out with event management, graphic design or any number of more specialised areas.

Most volunteers start out on our ‘Frontline’. As a Frontliner you’ll be the face of FBi Radio – stationed at the front desk, greeting guests, answering phones, responding to emails, assisting with admin and supporting the music library team. This gives you the opportunity to get an insight into the structure and roles available within the organisation while facilitating the day-to-day running of the station. It also means we get to know you better. If appropriate, after 3-6 months you may be provided with a chance to move into a new position. New roles crop up regularly and you’ll be exposed to opportunities to participate in training and other special projects. Volunteers are encouraged to be proactive in seeking new opportunities within the organisation.

If you have a question about volunteering at FBi Radio, contact volunteer@fbiradio.com.

If you’re interested in presenting, keep an eye out for the next presenter training call out, it’ll be advertised here.
If you have an idea for a new show, you can email our Program Director caroline@fbiradio.com for information on submitting a pitch.

How much time is involved?

We’re looking for volunteers that are able to commit to a regular day or half day each week for a minimum of 3 months. Hopefully you’ll be interested in extending your involvement beyond this. We ask that all volunteers are current supporters, just like staff and presenters.

If you’re keen to jump into thick of it, then get in touch by applying here.
