  • Dungen :: Guest Mix for Dusty Fingers (2.11.16)

Ahead of their first Australian tour since 2006, Swedish prog-rock legends Dungen have shared a – no, the – psychedelic mix sorely missing from all of our lives. Taking over Dusty Fingers with Marty Doyle, Dungen have presented us with the gold standard of prog and psychedelic rock, a mix that illustrates the visceral nature of the genre.

Over the hour, the euphoric tunes guide us through the genre’s key influences with seminal figures like Pink Floyd and The Moody Blues, as well as ’90s hip-hop, saxophone jams, and a few tracks from Dungen’s recently-released eighth album Häxan.

The album stems from the band’s work on a score to the 1926 film, The Adventures of Prince Achmed, believed to be the world’s oldest surviving full-length animated feature film. Both it and the mix are as a much of a trip as you want and need.

Dungen are playing at Meredith Music Festival and Oxford Art Factory next week. Don’t miss it.
