If you’re not already familiar with Brisbane punk-rockers WAAX, prepare to be. Creating a wall of sound that’s fierce, loud and dynamic – each song is a journey of pure emotional release.

Earlier this month, WAAX unleashed their energetic ‘Wild & Weak’ EP. Produced by Miro Mackle (Major Leagues, The John Steele Singers), it’s a well thought-out collection that sees the band settling into their own distinctively punk sound: at times, things begin to calm, but before you know it you’re smack bang in the eye of the storm again.

The cymbals take a pounding, catchy riffs ring loud, and singer-songwriter Marie De Vita consistently leads the way with confidence. It’s high energy with a few vocal screams thrown in the mix, without straying too far into heavier realms.
