Independent Artist of the Week: JEFFE

August 27th 2018

One listen to ‘Undecided’ and you’ll be anything but: JEFFE’s second single establishes her as one of Sydney’s brightest pop prospects.

Co-written with producer Dave Hammer (Thundamentals/Megan Washington), ‘Undecided’ is the second single from Sydney’s own JEFFE (pronounced ‘Jeff’).

Having grown up playing piano, sax, guitar and singing, JEFFE has taken time fleshing out her artistic vision. But it wasn’t until a chance meeting with Hammer in 2016 that the pair unlocked the organic electronic direction she was craving. In early 2017, JEFFE was born. Her first single ‘Whoever You Love, I’m Cool’, came out later that year. Since then, JEFFE has performed at Rare Finds, Mountain Sounds, Secret Garden Festival, Groovin the Moo, and supported like-minded souls in Lanks, Alex The Astronaut, No Mono and Stella Donnelly.

Like many of her electro pop contemporaries, JEFFE tiptoes the line between ecstatic triumph and claustrophobic vulnerability, and proves herself a master of the art. Subtropical bedroom pop with a real sense of place, ‘Undecided’ looks set to cement JEFFE’s status one of Sydney’s most promising up-and-comers.
