Classically-trained percussionists Elise Reitze and Rosie Taylor have dived head first into contemporary composition, making waves with lush sound worlds and introspective beats as Feels.

Concocting moody synth-soaked soundscapes, the talented Perth duo craft luminous seabeds of soft beats, dazzling percussion and rhythmic lines speckled with house influences. Their latest track ‘Moon Holiday’ sees an energy shift from the mania of previous tracks, exuding fluidity through minimalist polyrhythms and soulful vocals. Produced in collaboration with 20 year old Melbourne vocalist Wilhelmina McRae (better known as as Zellow), it’s a dazzling gem on their debut EP ‘Emerald’.

It’s been a big year for Reitze and Taylor. On top of making new sounds and hitting stages at Big Sound and Listen Out earlier this year, Feels also run Women of Music Production Perth (WOMPP) – an important platform for female, transgender and non-binary artists to share and discuss music production.

Off the back of their hometown EP launch over the weekend, our fingers are tightly crossed for news of a Sydney show soon!

‘Emerald’ by Feels is available now via artist-run Melbourne label Spirit Level.
Tune into Up For It every Monday morning to meet your new independent artist of the week!
