FBi 94.5FM announced Clare Holland as the station’s new Managing Director.

Clare is currently the Executive Director of Underbelly Arts, a fellow Sydney based arts organization that, like FBi, is passionately dedicated to finding larger audiences for emerging artists. Prior to Underbelly Arts, Clare worked in a variety of marketing, HR and financial roles at other arts and non-profit organizations such as the Sydney Festival, Biennale of Sydney and FBi. FBi’s President Cass Wilkinson stated “FBi is about supporting local creative communities and enriching Sydney’s vibrant culture. Clare shares this passion and was part of the original team starting in 2004. We feel immensely proud to welcome back one of our brightest and are fortunate to have a new Managing Director with a deep understanding of the station, experience in executing large scale projects and a connectedness to the many creative communities FBi represents.”

Clare Holland commented

“It is with great enthusiasm that I accept this appointment. I am a passionate advocate and lover of culture, and a strong believer in FBi’s impact on shaping the cultural landscape of Sydney over the last 10 years.  FBi is a community station, meaning community in all the best senses of the word and I look forward to building on the recent work of Evan Kaldor and the board, the staff and the countless broadcasters, volunteers and supporters that have built FBi into what it is today. I feel incredibly lucky to be able to step into the role in such an exciting time in FBi’s history and can’t wait to take FBi into its second decade of making great radio and supporting local music, arts and culture.”

Clare will commence her role on June 1 2013.

FBi Announces Dan Zilber as General Manager of Music and Stephen Goodhew as Music Director of FBi Radio 94.5FM

As FBi Radio enters its tenth year of broadcasting its footprint continues to grow beyond traditional analogue radio. To help lead the organisation in this exciting new phase, Dan Zilber has been promoted to General Manager of Music with overall responsibility for FBi’s music content and a mandate to grow FBi’s music properties across online channels and digital radio, industry partnerships and events. Stephen Goodhew will step into the role of Music Director, FBi Radio 94.5FM (and its digital radio simulcast), with responsibility for music programming, interviews and on-air related music activity.

Dan Zilber, General Manager of Music stated, “The best job in the world just got better. It’s been an honour to watch FBi grow from just a radio station to a cross platform community media organization. It’s hugely exciting for me to have a new role with increased scope to create more opportunities for Sydney bands and more ways for our audience to access them. I’ve worked very closely with Stephen for the past 2 years and watched his natural talent for music programming develop. He’s a huge asset to FBi and I look forward to working with him in his new role.”

FBi’s President Cass Wilkinson stated, “2013 is FBi’s tenth year of finding and sharing the best new Sydney music. To make sure the next ten years are even more exciting, we’re going beyond FM into live, online and digital. Dan has long been regarded as the best set of ears in Sydney and we’re thrilled to be expanding his brief. Nobody knows better what Sydney will sound like next.

Stephen Goodhew stated “I started at FBi in late 2009 as a volunteer, after having only recently moved to Sydney from Newcastle. From day one I fell completely in love with FBi’s culture, its music and the unrelenting focus on supporting local artists. I’ve been fortunate to perform a number of sponsorship and programming roles at FBi, as well as directing FBi’s Music Open Day program for the past two years. The opportunity to become Music Director of FBi’s FM station, where I can continue to support the vibrancy of Sydney’s ever increasing music scene, is nothing short of a dream come true.”

Details of FBi’s tenth birthday plans will be announced shortly.

FBi Announces Evan Kaldor to step down as General Manager

FBi announced today that, after five years as General Manager, Evan Kaldor will step down.

FBi’s President, Cass Wilkinson stated, “It’s not every day you find someone like Evan and I’m very pleased that while he is moving on to new professional opportunities, he will remain involved with FBi as a Board member. Evan led FBi deftly through both terrific times and very challenging times including the global financial crisis. His leadership as General Manager will be sorely missed but his contribution in his new role as Board member and Treasurer will give the station continuity and ongoing access to his skill set and knowledge of the station.

Kaldor stated “For the last five years I’ve had the privilege of working alongside a group of enormously talented and creative people. Together we’ve progressed the idea of what a community radio station can be and with the goodwill of our listeners and local artists we’ve cemented our place in the Sydney scene. FBi is in a fantastic position and, as we prepare to celebrate our 10th year on air, I believe now is the right time for me to step aside as General Manager. I look forward to remaining involved in my new Board role as Treasurer.”

We will commence a search for a new General Manager and welcomes applications from interested candidates. A full position description will be advertised and posted on the FBi website shortly.
