FBi Radio Dance Class is back again in 2024, a mentoring initiative and training ground for aspiring DJs.

!! Dance class applications have been extended until Feb 26 !!

FBi Radio Dance Class is a unique, comprehensive program designed to uncover, train and mentor a new crop of talent in the electronic music industry. The program matches emerging DJs with established mentors and figureheads of the Eora / Sydney scene.

Mentored by the best in the biz, FBi Radio Dance Class trainees learn the ropes in DJing and so much more, arming them with the skills they need to launch their careers.

Now in its sixth year, FBi Radio Dance Class has an impressive list of alumni, kick-starting the careers of DJs like AK Sports, Crescendoll, Ebony Boadu, E3P, Lauren Hansom, Tangela & many more.

This year, six trainees will be selected to participate in a series of master classes delivered by FBi Radio presenters and alumni. These workshops will cover DJing with CDJs, mixing vinyl, radio presenting, event production, music business and bookings plus loads more.

Trainees will each be paired with an FBi Radio mentor who they’ll join on-air over the course of a month to learn what goes on behind the scenes of a radio show. Dance music needs a dance floor, and the trainees will learn the ins and outs of putting on club nights and performing live.

FBi Radio is partnering with Club 77 for the Dance Class graduate showcase after a packed out and heaving show last year with Alilia, Console, FineDining, Grac, Ketki and Taklimakan.

Students will participate in a class of 6. There will be round table discussions, where students will receive a mixture of verbal and written information from mentors. There will also be ‘DJ skills’ sessions – these are standing classes in front of a table with music equipment, that involve listening through a mixture of headphones and speakers. We are keen to modify these formats where possible to support people’s access needs – please get in touch to discuss further.
FBi Radio has level access, and accessible bathrooms. Wheelchair users can reach the bathrooms via the street entrance. On-site, sloped parking can also be made available for those with access needs.

Please get in contact via if you wish to discuss any accessibility requirements or have further questions.

We invite applications from women, non-binary and trans folk with excellent taste in new dance music and the passion to become a DJ. No prior experience is required to apply. Applicants will be assessed purely on their passion, enthusiasm and knowledge of electronic music. If you love hip hop, disco, techno, house or any other dance genres, apply before 11:59pm, Thursday 19 February.

FBi Radio Dance Class is supported by the NSW Government through Create NSW.
