Album of the week: May 14 – Jon Hopkins

May 14th 2018

Following a 5 year hiatus from releases, Jon Hopkins returns with the stunning new album Singularity. Not afraid of exploring negative space, silence and unorthodox textures, Hopkins takes his distinctive production to new heights, guiding us through a dynamic and beautiful listening experience. Inspired by his observation of nature, his practice of transcendental meditation and an interest in exploration of different mental states; Singularity takes us from delicate choral-influenced passages through to powerful, sweeping crescendos. After a career that began as live keyboardist for Imogen Heap and has included collaborations with electronic music greats such as Brian Eno, Hopkins has well and truly established himself as a notable composer, producer and instrumentalist. Singularity is a captivating album from Jon Hopkins, one that sounds just as at home in a euphoric nightclub as it would be soundtracking a night of contemplative stargazing.
