  • A.GIRL :: Interview with Darren Lesaguis

“[Mum], you know how when we drive past Oxford Art Factory and we see all those people lining up for other people? Tomorrow, that’s going to be for me.”

Connecting female creatives, trusting your gut and the importance of heritage in artistry are all aspects of A.GIRL’s vision. Last week, she joined Darren Lesaguis on Arvos ahead of her debut headline show at Oxford Art Factory on Thursday May 20.

“The same sort of vibes that we’re seeing within the music industry, just in Sydney in particular with the boys, how they have their crew…I really want to bring that with the females…I’d love to see all of us girls win, come together and do what we need to do as a collective.”

Reflecting on being 17 and writing her 2020 single ‘Luv Drunk’, she spoke retrospectively about the advice she’d give her younger self about dealing with external pressures and finding self-assurance:

“Trust yourself, you know what you’re doing, you know what’s good for you, you know what’s bad for you. You know who is good and bad for you…Trust yourself girl, you got this.”

A.GIRL’s latest single ‘Vision’ was dropped last week, and it features her signature powerhouse vocals alongside bursts of rap; a combination that signals her fresh and matured approach to her music.
