Fly FBi vols outside FBi

Do you love radio? Want to be make an undeniable contribution to Sydney music, arts and culture? Do you want to be on the front lines, getting your hands dirty in the service of your favourite independent radio station? FBi wants you!

We’re throwing open our doors and looking for keen, reliable, friendly, excellent people to volunteer at FBi.

FBi is predominantly a volunteer-based organisation. Volunteering with FBi means you’ll be the integral cog driving one of Sydney’s favourite community radio stations; keeping the place going and growing, and getting your foot in the door to a world of awesome opportunities.

What kind of volunteer spots are available?

There are plenty of roles for volunteers to sink their teeth into at the station. These include looking after the front desk, cataloguing in the music library, producing or presenting radio shows, and working in online content, communications, event management, membership, sales and promotion.

Most volunteers start out on our Frontline. As a Frontliner you’ll be the face of FBi – stationed at the front desk, greeting guests, answering phones, responding to emails, assisting with FBi admin and supporting the music library team. This gives you the opportunity to get an insight into the structure and roles available within the organisation while facilitating the day-to-day running of the station. If appropriate, after 3-6 months you may be provided with a chance to move into a new role and volunteers are encouraged to be proactive in seeking new opportunities within the organisation.

Getting involved at FBi will also expose you to opportunities to participate in broadcaster and producer training, audio production and other special projects.

How much time is involved?

We’re looking for volunteers that are able to commit to a regular day or half day each week for a minimum of 3 months. Ideally we are looking for volunteers who are interested in extending their involvement at the station beyond this.

If you’re keen to jump into thick of it, get in touch through the application form below.

Applications close Friday 27 January.
