From hip hop to house, Kun’s influences are varied, but he’s hardly trying to be a jack of all trades.

The first mix of Kun’s Winter Residency on The Mixing Bowl floated on a hip hop groove, but it was low on rap and high on soul; music for the bedroom not the dancefloor. The Sydney producer has nothing against dancing though, so in July he made an equally soulful mix that aims to move your feet more than your pelvis.

There have been an exciting bunch of artists experimenting with the aforementioned blend of soulfulness and danceability, so Kun’s mix is a great peek into that world. Kaytranada is in there, alongside Pomo, Milo Mills, and Louis Futon.Kun’s own Childish Gambino-sampling track ‘URNexpected’ is the only Australian tune in there, but if the sound of this mix piques your interest, it’s well worth checking out Sydney dude Altisko‘s Fade Up mixtape too.

The final mix of Kun’s residency broadcasts on FBi after midnight on Saturday August 16 and will be online for streaming soon after. Right now though, you can check out mixes from the show’s three other resident DJs – Chiefs, Sweetland and Stephane.
